Javier Moviglia Receives the ISCAS 2026 Poster Presentation Award

07.08.2026

From July 2 to 5, 2026, Javier Moviglia attended the 40th International Congress on Computer-Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS 2026) at Nagoya University in Japan. As part of the 29th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Computer-Aided Surgery (ISCAS), he presented his doctoral thesis – conducted at the M²OLIE Research Campus – on the implementation of a cost-effective, monocular near-infrared camera tracking system in MRI and CT navigation systems. The system enables real-time tracking of medical instruments during image-guided procedures and was evaluated using phantoms in percutaneous liver biopsies under CT and MRI guidance. The work received the ISCAS 2026 Poster Presentation Award and was published in the renowned International Journal of Computer-Assisted Radiology and Surgery. In addition, Javier Moviglia co-authored another conference paper on contactless robotic catheter manipulation using magnetic actuation.
