The annual conference of the German Society for Computer- and Robot-Assisted Surgery (CURAC) is a central forum for medical technology, robotics, and digital innovations in surgery. At this year’s edition, held from September 18 to 20, 2025, in Heidelberg, the M\u00b2OLIE Research Campus was prominently represented with its own session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the title \u201cRobot use in clinical processes using the example of the BMBF Research Campus M\u00b2OLIE<\/em>,\u201d experts from Mannheim presented the latest findings from research and development. Dr. Hannah Krause (UMM) introduced the M\u00b2OLIE process, which maps the entire journey from admission to therapy in a continuous, digitized workflow. This was followed by presentations on image-guided interventions (Prof. Nils Rathmann, UMM), the digital tumor board as a decision-making aid (Dr. Anna Simeonova-Chergou, UMM), and methods for efficient control of clinical processes (Joel Lehmann, TH Mannheim). There was a particular focus on the use of robotics and automation: Prof. Dr. Frank Z\u00f6llner (MIiSM, Heidelberg University) showed how imaging makes the planning of robotic procedures more precise, while Dr. Marius Siegfarth (MIiSM, Heidelberg University) presented the automation of robot-assisted procedures. The session was very well received and impressively demonstrated how M\u00b2OLIE is gradually transferring the visionary closed-loop process \u2013 from patient admission to discharge \u2013 into clinical practice, thereby setting new standards for fast, precise, and patient-centered cancer treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
