Innovative Molecular Imaging

The overarching aim of the project is to use and develop multiple imaging modalities such as CT, MRI or PET-CT. In this way, an individualised intervention of a cancer patient can be performed optimally and with the highest possible precision on a Zeego robot. What is important is to merge the molecular and new functional image information acquired using different imaging techniques and to transfer all the relevant information about the various methods to the Artis ZEEGO® system. In this process, all morphological, molecular and functional information about the tumour to be treated should be prepared concisely and patient-specifically for the doctor working on the Artis ZEEGO® system and be merged in real time with the multimodal 3D and 4D data using the data acquired on the Artis ZEEGO® system.

The most important components of Lead Project 3 are:
  1. Image acquisition using MRI scanners, PET scanners and a novel and innovative experimental CT system, which, within the framework of the research campus, allows novel functional and morphological data with a minimum radiation dose to be recorded.
  2. "Matches" of these image data with functional and molecular image data which are acquired on a 3-Tesla MRI system or state of the art PET-CT using novel PET tracers for individualised patient diagnosis.
  3. Transmitting this information to the intervention room where it can be merged and updated in real time using the flat-panel scan technology of the Artis ZEEGO® system.

Optimal individualised intervention with the highest possible precision in a cancer patient by means of an intervention robot on a ZEEGO system.
